Our goal at Factual is to build a platform that enables communities to transform bits and pieces of knowledge into clean, usable databases that can be leveraged across a whole range of applications. But even as we make good progress on that particular front, I think about the other challenges that stand in the way of providing better answers to people’s questions, and the many innovative companies that are involved.
Santa Claus came slightly late to the Factual office this year… but it was worth the wait!
We had so much fun at our last developer event that we’ve decided to do it again! Next week, Wednesday, January 13th, Factual will host a joint meetup of The Los Angeles Semantic Web Meetup Group and The Los Angeles PHP Developers Meetup Group. (If you live in the Los Angeles area and love talking about code, innovation, and all things open source, you should definitely check these groups out.)
The cigar blog Stogie Fresh recently developed a nifty iPhone app powered by Factual data. “Doc’s Stogie Rate for iPhone” app allows you to keep track of your cigar collection, rate and log tasting notes, and access detailed information about any cigar of your choosing (size, shape, country of origin, etc.). For all you iPhone-wielding, cigar aficionados, this one’s a no-brainer.
