I would like to formally announce two recent additions to the Factual team, Tyler Bell and Artem Boytsov. Tyler and Artem are both based in Silicon Valley and will help Factual set up an engineering office there in the coming months.
Tyler joined Factual late in 2010. He’s a geotechnologist with broad interests in open source and place-based information systems, and previously led the Geo Technologies product team at Yahoo. A former archaeologist specializing in landscape analysis and the semantic integration of heterogeneous data, Tyler gained his doctorate at the University of Oxford before founding a spatial technology spin-out from the University in 2001. Tyler is Factual’s Director of Product and oversees our Local & Geo Data vertical.
Artem joins Factual from Google, where he worked for over 6 years as an Engineering or Product Lead on very challenging, data-intensive problems. He was one of the 2 engineers who gave birth to Google Trends, and was involved in the evolution of a variety of other products, including AdWords, Google Labs and Google Images. He’s long been passionate about structured data, and will serve as a staff software engineer here at Factual, where he’ll be working on a number of critical data problems.
Needless to say, I’m very excited to have Tyler and Artem join the Factual team, and am confident that they will play a critical role in helping Factual tackle (and solve) the difficult data challenges that lie ahead. These hires also represent an important next phase for us, as we aggressively ramp up our recruiting efforts in Silicon Valley and work to establish a solid presence there. Welcome, Tyler and Artem! Glad to have you on board!
